Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully as they contain important information about your rights and obligations when purchasing a private registration from SnapReg.
SnapReg.co.uk website is owned and operated by SnapReg (also referred to in this document as ‘we’, ‘us’, ‘our’, and ‘The Company’).
This version of terms is dated [24th April 2026]. We may update these terms from time to time at our discretion; however, these terms will apply when you buy from our website or use any of our services.
Buying A Registration
- Purchasing a registration gives you (or a nominee) the rights to display the registration mark. In compliance with government regulation, “owning” a registration means having the sole rights to display it.
- All registrations are sold subject to availability. We cannot accept responsibility should a donor change their mind or if a transfer fails at the DVLA level. Prices are subject to change without notice.
- An order is not deemed accepted until price and availability have been checked and confirmed by SnapReg.
- No Refunds/Cancellations: Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, bespoke and personalised items (like number plates and registration rights) are excluded from the standard 14-day cancellation period. Once an order is placed, our service commences immediately. No cooling-off period or refunds are given.
- Cancellations (New Stock Only): Requests to cancel newly issued (unissued government stock) registrations must be made in writing to info@snapreg.co.uk within 7 days. A cancellation fee of £75 or 15% of the purchase price (whichever is greater) applies. DVLA has sole discretion over these cancellations.
- We cannot cancel pre-owned (cherished) registrations.
- A “Buyer” is found once SnapReg receives part or full payment or finance approval.
- Use of the “Buy Online” facility does not guarantee price or availability.
- If a registration is unavailable, you will receive a choice of an exchange or a full refund.
- Full payment must be received within 14 days of securing a registration. Required vehicle documents must be received within 21 days.
- If we are unable to supply a registration through no fault of the Buyer, a full refund of the amount paid will be issued.
- The Secretary of State/DVLA may revoke a registration at any time. SnapReg cannot be held responsible for this or for changes in Government legislation.
- Vehicle Age: You cannot make a vehicle appear newer than it is. It is your responsibility to ensure the registration is suitable for your vehicle.
- We aim to process documents quickly, but please allow up to 12 weeks for DVLA processing. We are not liable for losses caused by DVLA delays.
- Any liability is strictly limited to a full refund of the purchase price only.
Vehicle Age & Suitability
- SnapReg makes no guarantee that a registration can be assigned to a specific vehicle. It is the purchaser’s responsibility to check the vehicle age requirements before ticking the disclaimer at checkout.
- Registrations can only be assigned to vehicles of a “tax and testable” type (MOT and Tax required). Farm machinery and tax-exempt agricultural vehicles often do not qualify.
When A Contract Is Complete
- A contract is complete when: (a) If no ‘Managed Transfer’ is selected: On issuance of an email confirming the certificate has been dispatched. (b) If ‘Managed Transfer’ is selected: On issuance of an email confirming the transfer is complete.
Registration Certificates (V750 / V778)
- You must assign the registration to a vehicle before the expiry date on the certificate. SnapReg is not liable for expired certificates.
- An admin fee of £35 applies for duplicate certificate requests made after 90 days.
- An admin fee of £35 applies to change a nominee name on a certificate.
Managed Transfer Service
- The buyer is responsible for providing the correct vehicle documentation.
- If we are arranging your transfer and you wish to retain your current private plate, you must inform us immediately. An additional DVLA fee of £80 will apply. If you do not inform us, your existing plate will be lost.
- It is illegal to display new plates until you receive confirmation from us (or the DVLA) that the transfer is complete.
Acrylic Number Plates
- SnapReg supplies road-legal, DVLA-compliant plates including our name, postcode, and the current British Standard (BS).
- We cannot mis-represent a registration (illegal spacing or character changes are not permitted).
- Due to their personalised nature, acrylic plates are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled once ordered.
- If plates arrive damaged, you must inform us within 7 days for a free replacement.
Selling With SnapReg
- By listing a plate, you confirm you are the legal owner/grantee.
- SnapReg advertises your registration on a commission basis (we add our fee on top of your return price).
- We do not pay for registrations upfront. Payment is made to the seller within 7 working days of the successful transfer to the new buyer.
- We reserve the right to remove any listing from our website at any time.
Events Outside Our Control
- SnapReg shall not be liable for delays caused by third parties, including the postal service, DVLA errors, or Government system failures (Force Majeure).
